
To get Safari to use your ID to access CAC Enabled DoD sites you must create preferences for your ID Card: O If your CAC reader/ID Card does not appear your reader is not currently supported natively by Leopard OS X (check the OEM's website for updated Firmware - though firmware updates must be done from windows).


It should resemble something like "CAC-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx" Locate and select the CAC keychain associated with your card in left column of the Keychain window. With your ID Card in the reader, open Keychain (Applications>Utilities>Keychain Access). Ensure that Safari is fully closed before proceeding. Connect the CAC reader USB cable to the USB port of your Mac without your ID card in the reader (the author personally recommends the SCR331). O Ensure the box is checked to share X509Anchors. O Macintosh HD/System/Library/Keychains/X509Anchors To install X509 Anchors in Keychain Access: If “X509Anchors” is not listed in your Keychains they should be installed / viewable. Once Keychain is open, look on the left hand side of the menu and look at the items in the Keychain list. Open Keychain (Applications>Utilities>Keychain Access) to verify X509 Anchors are not already unlocked/viewable. My reader's firmware is the newest version from SCM and per msg00093 (and the attached link to Open Source author's CCID supported CAC Readers. My SCM 3310 worked perfectly on 10.5.5 but the recent update to 10.5.6 now makes me SCM 3310 CAC Reader totally unrecognizable (brief green light when I plug-in but then dead - does not even show up in keychain anymore).
